5 Ways to Update and Refresh Your Business Website<span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">10</span> min read</span>
Are you ready to make 2016 the best year for your business? If so, it might be time to refresh your business website.
I was recently asked to speak at the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee meeting at the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. I decided to write a blog post to recap my presentation.
Here are five common things you can (and should) do now to refresh your business website.
1. ENHANCE YOUR CONTENT
When is the last time you reviewed and refreshed your content? If you are like most business owners it has probably been years. Google and other search engines uses web crawlers that look for new, meaningful and useful content. Publishing fresh content regularly is important and can help better engage your customers, increase search engine rankings and increase traffic to your website.
2. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO BE MOBILE-FRIENDLY
In April of last year, Google released a major algorithm change that gave a boost to mobile-friendly websites in Google’s mobile search results. I know some of you reading this post are wondering, “Well how do I check to see if my site is mobile-friendly?” Well thanks to Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test tool you can easily do just that.
3. FOCUS ON CONVERSIONS
What is a conversion? Simply put, a conversion is getting someone to respond to your call-to-action.
For example, a conversion might be getting visitors to click on the call-to-action link inside an email or going to a landing page and filling out a form. Ultimately, a successful conversion will result in turning visitors into customers, clients, patients, etc. Some conversions can be fast and simple. Others can be more complex and lead-nurturing.
Every page on your website should create a call-to-action, which prompts your website visitors to take action. The action you want your visitor to take can be anything from requesting a coupon to call now.
4. ADD ANALYTICS
One option for adding analytics to your site is Google Analytics, a free web analytics service by Google to track and report website traffic. My favorite report is the Customer Acquisition report, which offers a simple but crucial perspective for your business. This report will show you how visitors are landing on your website.
Integrating Google Analytics with your website is important and will help you track the success of your online business.
5. ENHANCE THE USER EXPERIENCE
When is the last time you visited your website with your new visitor eyes on? If it has been a while, take some time to do just that. Design is essential in the overall user experience and helps users quickly and effectively find what they’re looking for on your website.
Your website should be functional and easy to navigate. A good user experience will prompt your visitors to return, suggest your sites to others and engage with your business.
